Clover Garden School is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Chatham Charter is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Grizzlies will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Clover Garden School's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
Clover Garden School is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 16-11 victory over Triangle Math & Science on Monday. With that win, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Gavin Phillips was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Foster, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Clover Garden School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chatham Charter gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Southwestern Randolph by a score of 10-6.
The team relied heavily on Jace Young, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Chatham Charter is undefeated when Young posts three or more RBI, but 6-7 otherwise. Brandon Rives was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Chatham Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Clover Garden School, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clover Garden School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chatham Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clover Garden School came out on top in a nail-biter against Chatham Charter in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
