The Birchwood Christian Warriors had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 38-33 win over Sand Point on Tuesday. The win was just what Birchwood Christian needed coming off of a 80-40 loss in their prior matchup.
Birchwood Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Guderian, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Guderian hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Severns, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Birchwood Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Sand Point, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Birchwood Christian will take on the Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Sand Point is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Archangels at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alaska (Lumen Christi is ranked 82nd, while the Eagles/Lady Eagles are ranked 80th).
