Meadowdale hasn't had much luck against Snohomish recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mavericks will face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m.
Shorewood hit Meadowdale with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mavericks came up short against the Stormrays, falling 11-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Lance Moua was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Jagger Bishop also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Snohomish entered their tilt with Mountlake Terrace on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landon Klein was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Snohomish is 5-1 when Klein posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Clark, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Snohomish always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Snohomish pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Meadowdale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Meadowdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Snohomish struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Meadowdale couldn't quite finish off Snohomish when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
