After flying high against the University Prep Jaguars last Thursday, Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy came back down to earth. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy took a hard 90-71 fall against the Silver Knights on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raoul Churchill, who shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 34 points and nine assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Churchill has scored at least a third of Riverside Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marrion Brown, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Riverside Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hesperia Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the likes a good challenge. As for Riverside Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Big Bear is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.
