Basketball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Find Success

If Westminster Catawba Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hickory Grove Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Lauren Feaster. The Hickory Grove Christian Lions pulled ahead with a 43-42 photo finish over the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians on Friday thanks in part to Feaster, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. Feaster is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leah Ross, who posted 12 points and five steals. Ross has become a key player for Westminster Catawba Christian: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sherer, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Hickory Grove Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Hickory Grove Christian will square off against Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they will take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
