The Poplar Indians gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Culbertson 76-37 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-17.
Culbertson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Kirkaldie, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Donte Eagle Boy, who scored 10 points.
Poplar's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Culbertson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poplar will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Culbertson at 7:30 p.m. on January 23, 2024.
