River Valley is a perfect 5-0 against Tonopah Valley since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dust Devils will square off against the Phoenix at 3:45 p.m. River Valley knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Tonopah Valley likes a good challenge.
On Monday, River Valley made easy work of Odyssey Institute and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Sophia Reyes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, River Valley let Peyton Beggs and Taliyah Gonzalez run wild. Beggs went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Gonzalez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cherity Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Tonopah Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 9-5 to Kingman.
Shiloh Walker and Morgan Green did some serious damage despite the final result: Walker went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Green went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
River Valley has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Tonopah Valley, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. River Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .572. However, it's not like Tonopah Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
River Valley got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Tonopah Valley by a conclusive 15-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dust Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
