The Tremont Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 49-25 defeat at the hands of Baldwyn. Tremont has not had much luck with Baldwyn recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Tremont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Saige Black. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Gillespie, who scored two points along with five assists and four steals.
Baldwyn found their leader in underclassman Ayriah Warren, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Warren has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keniah Burt, who scored nine points.
Tremont has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Baldwyn, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Tremont won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hickory Flat at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hickory Flat is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Baldwyn will take on Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Wheeler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
