Champey has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Champey was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Codi Mann was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 1-for-3.
 On South Central's side,  the team  relied heavily on  Haven Roebuck, who  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple.  Kamdyn Haislip was another key contributor,  going 1-for-4 with three  RBI and a  double.
 New Bern's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 12-3. As for South Central, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that  win, which was their third straight  at home.
 New Bern will head out on the road to  square off against  Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
