The Garner Trojans will head out on the road to take on the South View Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Garner is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let South Garner get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Mayken Lynette, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Dean, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Garner hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, South View put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Douglas Byrd on the board, marking South View's second-straight 16-0 shutout. Give the Tigers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
PAIGE FORD made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. FORD was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, MADDY CLARK was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. DESTINY SHOULARS was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
South View's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Garner, their record now sits at 4-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Garner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. However, it's not like South View struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Garner skirted past South View 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garner since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
