The Olympic Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Palisades Pumas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Wednesday, it was close, but Olympic sidestepped the Rams for a 56-53 victory.
Olympic found their leader in underclassman CANNON DEBERRY, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. DEBERRY is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. JADEN HARDNETT was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
While Palisades couldn't quite beat the Sabres on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 36-point loss they were dealt on Tuesday. Palisades fell just short of the Sabres by a score of 52-49. While losing is never fun, Palisades can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Sabres are ranked 35th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kingston Henry, who scored 14 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jyler Standifer, who scored 12 points.
Olympic's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16. As for Palisades, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Olympic have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Palisades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Olympic ended up a good deal behind the Pumas in their previous matchup back in January, losing 71-55. Can Olympic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
