The Tomball Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Klein Oak Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tomball is looking to tack on another W to their 16-game streak on the road.
Last Wednesday, Tomball was able to grind out a solid victory over Klein, taking the game 42-33. Given Tomball's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Klein is ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tomball's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielle Oyakhire, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Oyakhire has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Zullo, who scored six points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Klein Oak unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 45-33 to Klein Collins. Klein Oak has struggled against Klein Collins recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Tomball is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Klein Oak, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-6.
Tomball came up short against Klein Oak in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 43-31. Can Tomball avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
