Quad Cities Christian put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Tri-State Christian 67-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Quad Cities Christian has posted since December 5, 2023.
It was another big night for Seth Karl, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Agbezouhlon, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Rivermont Collegiate was able to grind out a solid victory over East Moline Christian on Friday, taking the game 52-42. Given Rivermont Collegiate's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 251st in Iowa, while East Moline Christian is ranked 661st in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eamon Matlock was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Soulaymane El Jerari was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Quad Cities Christian has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Rivermont Collegiate, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Quad Cities Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 41.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Rivermont Collegiate, though, as they've only made 35.3% of their threes per game this season. Given Quad Cities Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Rivermont Collegiate will need to find a way to close that gap.
Quad Cities Christian strolled past Rivermont Collegiate when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 55-37. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rivermont Collegiate's Tahir Kaplan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
