Basketball Game Preview: Newman International Academy Warriors vs. ILTexas Arlington Eagles

The Newman International Academy Warriors will face off against the ILTexas Arlington Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Newman International Academy strolled past Grace Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Newman International Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Miranda, who went 11 for 21 on her way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Miranda's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Pillow, who posted 15 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Newman International Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, ILTexas Arlington had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 39-35 W over North Hills Prep back in December of 2024.

Newman International Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for ILTexas Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
