It was a good run, but the St. George's Gryphons unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 71-38 loss at the hands of Kirby. St. George's was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kirby apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why St. George's lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jackson Jones. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Drake Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
St. George's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Kirby, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.
St. George's road trip will continue as they head out to face Memphis Home Education Association at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Memphis Home Education Association presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. George's in Tennessee (Memphis Home Education Association is ranked 36th, while St. George's is ranked 176th). As for Kirby, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Benedict at Auburndale at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Benedict at Auburndale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
