The Silas Rams will square off against the Peninsula Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
Silas had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Lakes on Tuesday. The Rams were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Lancers. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.
Natalie Medalia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Silas let Claire Walsh and Tatum Butterfield run wild. Walsh went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Butterfield scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Butterfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ary'Anna Payne, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Silas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Peninsula, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They skirted past River Ridge 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Seahawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Peninsula's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Miranda, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kyla McCarthy was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Peninsula pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Silas, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Silas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Peninsula struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silas might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Peninsula in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
