After a string of three wins, the Keyser Golden Tornado's's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern. Keyser has struggled against Southern recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Southern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelsey Ward led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Teets, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Keyser's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Southern, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Keyser will head out on the road to face off against Pendleton County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampshire at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
