Hazen hasn't had much luck against Juanita recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Highlanders will look to defend their home field against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Hazen has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Wednesday, Hazen didn't have quite enough to beat Redmond and fell 3-2.

Sam Nicholson
03/19/25 - Home | 2 |
04/09/25 - Away | 1 |
Sam Nicholson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hazen is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Hazen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rydan Corwin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Juanita earned a 4-1 win over Liberty on Wednesday.
Max Starikov looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ronan Scoffield was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ian Flynn, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Juanita pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hazen, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hazen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Juanita struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hazen suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Juanita in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Highlanders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
