It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Colusa RedHawks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against East Nicolaus by a score of 14-7. The victory was just business as usual for Colusa, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
The critical scores for Colusa came from Aiden Selover and Bo Coronado.
When it comes to explaining why East Nicolaus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Cleary. Despite the final result, he rushed for 134 yards on only 15 carries.
Colusa pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Durham and 2-8 Willows (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.3% over those games). As for East Nicolaus, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Colusa will be playing in front of their home fans against Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Nicolaus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
