Mid-Lakes recap October 1, 2013
Strafford extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Lakes this week by beating Pleasant Hope, 48-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Indians.
Stockton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,338 from 11,724. The advance stemmed from a 13-6 victory over Fair Grove last week.
Jacob Kinder was a key player and the best on defense this week as Strafford bested the Pirates. The 5-foot-7 junior.
Jacob Wade threw for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 10-12 with 0 interception.
Logan Allred was a force in the backfield as Ash Grove beat McAuley Catholic.
Allred was a passing and rushing force as the Pirates defeated the Warriors. Allred's favorite target this week was Jackson Bagley, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.
Allred was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 352 yards on 25 carries as Ash Grove beat Pleasant Hope. Teammate Taylor Mooneyham added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
The Indians' Wade and Hester have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wade has thrown for 1,106 yards this season, while Hester, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 27 catches for 452 yards. Doug Martin's team's Allred leads the league in rushing yards with 947.
Allred of the the Pirates is only 53 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Allred has rushed for 947 yards on 105 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Mid-Lakes this week will be when Ash Grove takes on the Tigers. At the moment, the Pirates are in third, while Skyline is in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Ash Grove takes on Brandon Shelby's team. The Pirates have allowed 68 points this season, while the Tigers have given up 72. Ash Grove allowed 14 points last week as it topped McAuley Catholic.
