Doherty is 8-2 against Rampart since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Doherty Spartans will challenge the Rampart Rams at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Doherty's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
Doherty is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Pueblo West: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Doherty's way against Pueblo West on Tuesday as Doherty made off with a 74-51 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since February 9, 2024.

Doherty had a senior duo take command as Maddox Dee-Mortensen went 7 of 12 en route to 21 points and five boards and Elijah Mack went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Mack has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Foster-Gebur, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rampart). They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 84-77 on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Lancers are ranked 33rd).
Rampart's win came from a few key players Doherty will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isaiah Melecio, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 24 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Wyatt Kirch was another key player, going 6 for 7 en route to 15 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists.
Rampart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Doherty pushed their record up to 4-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Rampart, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Doherty and Rampart are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Doherty hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63 points per game. However, it's not like Rampart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Doherty was able to grind out a solid victory over Rampart in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 66-58. Does Doherty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rampart turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
