After a string of 12 wins, Lakeside's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers by a score of 2-1. In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Lakeside sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 15-7.
Lakeside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zoe Evans, who had nine digs and one assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell King, who had nine digs and one assist.
Academy of Richmond County can attribute much of their success to Berkeley Jones, who had 15 digs and two aces.
The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 36-5. As for Academy of Richmond County, they pushed their record up to 30-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.
