Melba and Parma are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Melba played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They put the hurt on Vision with a sharp 16-5 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with Vision recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kali Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Melba got a massive performance out of Kodi Adams, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Adams a new career-high. Elle Crimbchin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Melba was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Parma entered their tilt with New Plymouth on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pilgrims a 16-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Kinlea Cole, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Poppy Nichols, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Melba's record is now 3-5. As for Parma, their record now sits at 10-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Melba has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Parma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Melba came up short against Parma in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
