The Cocoa Beach Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 53-35 fall against Satellite. Cocoa Beach was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Satellite apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cocoa Beach still got an impressive performance from Baylea Holland, who scored 15 points. Holland continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexie Overdorf, who scored seven points.
Satellite can attribute much of their success to Sydney Logsdon, who scored 18 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Logsdon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Bishop, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Cocoa Beach has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Satellite, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cocoa Beach's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Satellite, they will challenge Space Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
