Softball Game Preview: Altamont Longhorns vs. Wayne Badgers

The Altamont Longhorns will take on the Wayne Badgers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Altamont knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Wayne likes a good challenge.

Altamont barely beat Parowan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Rams on Saturday. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Kiley Crapo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Reaygen Miles was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lacie Long was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Altamont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Wayne lost 15-3 to North Sevier last Saturday. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Altamont, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Altamont came out on top in a nail-biter against Wayne when the teams last played last Saturday, sneaking past 12-11. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
