It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Bacon County Raiders can now relate to. They suffered a tough 38-13 loss at the hands of Lamar County on Friday. While losing is never fun, Bacon County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Lamar County is ranked 140th).
Although Bacon County took the loss, they still got scores from Adian Cothern and Rasheed Slade.
Lamar County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zyquavius Hughley, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Bacon County are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.8 points per game. As for Lamar County, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Bacon County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lamar County will take on Swainsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Swainsboro is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
