There's no place like home for the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 win over Martins Mill on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Jacksonville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 938th, while Martins Mill is ranked 122nd).
Martins Mill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Marsh, who scored 14 points along with three blocks. Marsh continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Moore, who scored 12 points.
Jacksonville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Martins Mill, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will take on Bullard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bullard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 228 points over their last three games. As for Martins Mill, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Frankston at 7:30 p.m. Frankston is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
