The Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions will face off against the Eustis Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) comes in on seven and Eustis on 12.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Dunedin with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Stallions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Ava Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) let Taylor Rebhan and Brigitte Valdera run wild. Rebhan went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Valdera went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Valdera has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Carley Hernandorena, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Eustis faced Wakulla in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the War Eagles 3-2.
Eustis also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Carson Roden gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. Roden has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eustis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Scott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms)'s win bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Eustis, their victory bumped their record up to 23-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Eustis struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
