Faith Lutheran can bid farewell to their three-match losing streak thanks to their match on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Academy Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.
Faith Lutheran was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-17, 15-25, 25-23, 15-6.
Faith Lutheran was led to victory by Kadyn Koble and Tara Leicht. Koble had 21 kills and five aces, while Leicht had six aces and five kills. Those 21 kills gave Koble a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Faith Lutheran was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sylvia Dunbar, who had 12 aces and four assists. Another player making a difference was Amelia Hoerig, who had nine kills, five digs, three aces, and two blocks.
Faith Lutheran picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-9. As for Dallas Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Faith Lutheran has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Excel Christian Academy on the 9th. As for Dallas Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Lakewood Presbyterian on the 9th.
