The Chaparral Roadrunners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. Their tough 69-46 defeat to Independent might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Chaparral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Independent is ranked 106th).
Independent's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Henderson, who scored 21 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Sir Ryan Dennis, who scored 17 points.
Chaparral dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Independent, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Chaparral will head out on the road to face off against Kingman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral is facing Kingman at the right time seeing as Kingman is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Independent, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Belle Plaine at 7:30 p.m. Independent has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three matches.
