The Liberty Hawks will be playing at home against the Firebaugh Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Liberty unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 28-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chowchilla.
Defeat or not, Liberty got some senior leadership from Caleb Sisco who gained 119 total yards and a touchdown and Noah Bonilla who threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Firebaugh slipped by Mendota 22-21 on Friday.
Firebaugh's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Luna, who rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Isaac Ceja, who threw for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Firebaugh, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Liberty has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Firebaugh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Liberty strolled past Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in August of 2019 by a score of 53-35. Does Liberty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Firebaugh turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
