Softball Recap: Kimball Wins Going Away Against West

After only two runs in their last matchup, Kimball made sure to put some runs up on the board against West on Friday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Wolfpack. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Giselle Mallamo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Kimball got a massive performance out of Karaliya DePerio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave DePerio a new career-high. Iolana Faasisila was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Kimball always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West only posted an OBP of .310.

Kimball's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimball will square off against St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.95 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West, they will challenge Lodi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
