Hickory Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Norman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hickory Ridge in their matchups with Lake Norman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sheree Gidney, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Leathers, who scored 12 points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, Cox Mill suffered a rough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Lake Norman on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cox Mill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Lake Norman is ranked fourth).
Hickory Ridge's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4. As for Cox Mill, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Hickory Ridge strolled past Cox Mill in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 55-36. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cox Mill's Madison Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hickory Ridge still be able to contain Alexander? There's only one way to find out.
