Ruidoso is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Mountain Timberwolves at 2:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Ruidoso is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mescalero Apache a 20-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the game before.
Cayden Wilson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Mason Fikany was a standout: he scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Ortega, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, East Mountain entered their tilt with McCurdy on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Bobcats 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Christopher Moya was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Moya was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, East Mountain got a massive performance out of Aidan Madrid, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Madrid also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Luke Stoerner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
East Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
East Mountain pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Ruidoso, their win bumped their record up to 5-7-1.
Ruidoso came up short against East Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 12-8. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
