Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Eagle Rock recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 2:15 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Lincoln couldn't beat Marshall on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Barristers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Monica Amaya and Gladys Barajas did some serious damage despite the final result: Amaya got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Barajas got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Toc, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Marcella Terrazas made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Melissa Terrazas, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Alyssa Jaramillo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Eagle Rock pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Lincoln hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eagle Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lincoln suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Eagle Rock in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
