The Triad Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison Plains. Triad has struggled against Madison Plains recently, as their contest on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Triad lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abbey Overfield, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Overfield also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Lemay, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Madison Plains got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Vallery out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Claire Mason was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Triad's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Madison Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Triad will be home for the holidays to greet Cedarville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedarville's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Triad's offense will have their work cut out for Triad. As for Madison Plains, they will head out on the road to face off against West Liberty-Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in West Liberty-Salem's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Madison Plains has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
