The Swain County Maroon Devils will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Robbinsville Black Knights at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Swain County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Robbinsville likes a good challenge.
Swain County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Nantahala 91-38 on the road. Swain County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Robbinsville entered their tilt with Nantahala with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Robbinsville simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Nantahala 84-29 on the road. Given Robbinsville's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Nantahala is ranked 657th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Swain County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Robbinsville, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Swain County couldn't quite finish off Robbinsville when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 51-49. Can Swain County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
