The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots entered their tilt with the Carolina International Comets with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Piedmont Community Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against Carolina International on Wednesday and snuck past 57-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Piedmont Community Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Wilcher led the charge by scoring 18 points. The game was Wilcher 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Erwin, who scored 16 points.
Carolina International lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Malaki Long, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Steven Jefferson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Piedmont Community Charter pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Carolina International, they now have a losing record at 6-7-1.
Piedmont Community Charter will be playing at home against Jackson Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carolina International, they will head out on the road to face off against Sugar Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sugar Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Friday.
