The Franklin Admirals will face off against the Brentwood Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Tuesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Friday, Franklin came up short against Centennial and fell 5-2.
Chloe Rowland was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Addison Myers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brentwood). Everything went their way against Ravenwood on Friday as Brentwood made off with a 9-3 victory. While the Bruins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Marina Mason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lila Driver, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Maggie McClendon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
The win made it two in a row for Brentwood and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Franklin suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Brentwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Franklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
