The Akron Rams were the 52-40 winner over the Wiggins Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Akron fell to Wiggins 47-43. Akron has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Akron saw an underclassman step up: Kashlee Randel scored 12 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikenna Weers, who scored 11 points.
Wiggins' win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taelynn Epple, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Riley Hunt, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Akron has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Wiggins, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Akron will take on Hi-Plains at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Wiggins, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Holyoke at 4:00 p.m.
