Woodland Regional is 1-9 against Holy Cross since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Woodland Regional Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Holy Cross Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodland Regional comes in on three and Holy Cross on ten.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Woodland Regional beat Seymour 46-41.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Holy Cross made off with a 43-42 victory over Torrington. Given Holy Cross' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Torrington is ranked 54th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodland Regional's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Woodland Regional might still be hurting after the 65-44 defeat they got from Holy Cross when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Woodland Regional avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
