Baseball Recap: South Anchorage Wins Going Away Against West Anchorage

South Anchorage had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt West Anchorage on Thursday. The Wolverines blew past the Eagles 14-6. With that win, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

South Anchorage got a great performance from Carson Lake as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Chase Mascelli and Logan Geuss did most of the damage at the plate: Mascelli went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Geuss went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Mascelli has posted since back in May of 2024. Cole Yarington was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

South Anchorage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive matches.

South Anchorage's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for West Anchorage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.
