The South Webster Jeeps will venture away from home to square off against the Waverly Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Webster's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Oak Hill. Considering the Jeeps' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jaiden White made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lauren Kaltenbach was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Raynard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
South Webster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waverly). They blew past Minford 20-7 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Lexi Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Whitley Brown was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Hayden Jones was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Waverly and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for South Webster, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Webster has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Waverly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
South Webster might still be hurting after the 15-6 defeat they got from Waverly in their previous meeting on April 2nd. Can the Jeeps avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
