The Palmer Ridge Bears put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Cheyenne Mountain 54-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Palmer Ridge, who have now won eight contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Derek Hester got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 61 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Holden Wright made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Palmer Ridge's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-2 Montrose and 6-2 Lewis-Palmer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.2% over those games). As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer Ridge will take on Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Palmer Ridge is ranked seventh). As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Coronado at 6:30 p.m. Coronado is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
