The Whitehorse Raiders's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 49-43 win over Wingate. For Whitehorse, this counts as revenge for the 73-69 defeat Wingate walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2015.
Lyric Phillips continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Whitehorse's points. Larenz Tsosie was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Whitehorse's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Wingate, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
Whitehorse won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shonto Prep at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Shonto Prep is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. Wingate will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Many Farms at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Many Farms will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 275th in Arizona, while Wingate is ranked 54th in New Mexico).
