The Rocky Mountain Lobos will square off against the Brighton Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rocky Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
If Rocky Mountain beats Brighton with five runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Lobos came out on top in a nail-biter against Windsor on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted since March 31st.

The team relied heavily on Erik Jacobson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Murphy, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brighton didn't have quite enough to beat Boulder on Tuesday and fell 4-3.
Austin Sickler was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Sickler was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nick Griffin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Austin Waltemath was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Brighton's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Rocky Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rocky Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocky Mountain took their victory against Brighton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
