Cimarron has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lakin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bluejays will welcome the Broncs at 4:00 p.m. Cimarron has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cimarron lost 15-5 to Liberal on Thursday. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tigi Greene made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Drew Kugler also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Lakin came out on top against Hugoton on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Broncs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Broncs have posted against the Eagles since April 25, 2019.
Moriah Ortiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. Ortiz was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lileah Villa, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Beltran, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Cimarron's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Lakin, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cimarron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cimarron took their win against Lakin when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
