Burbank is a perfect 10-0 against Muir since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. Muir took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Burbank, who comes in off a win.
Burbank is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Pasadena on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Burbank with their most commanding win of the season.
Maddison Kellogg was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Kellogg was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kassandra Davila, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chloe Updike, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs.
Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .944. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Muir didn't have quite enough to beat Arcadia on Thursday and fell 5-4.
Like Burbank, Muir also got a great game from a two-way player: Jazmin Jaquez. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jaquez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Alyssa Perez and Gianna (GiGi) Butler did some serious damage despite the final result: Perez went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Butler went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Perez has launched this season.
Burbank's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Muir, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Burbank skirted past Muir 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
