The Basic Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Basic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Basic took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let Eldorado get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.

Melanie Hughes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Natalee Ramos was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Isabella Christensen was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Basic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy Red Rock came tearing into Monday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Mountain Lions by a score of 5-0. The Dragons' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.
Sierra Vista's batters probably weren't too happy with Megan Upp, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Upp has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gabriella Rodriguez was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Desarae Castaneda, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Doral Academy Red Rock pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Basic, their record is now 12-10.
Both Basic and Doral Academy Red Rock just can't seem to miss. The Wolves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Doral Academy Red Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Basic might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Doral Academy Red Rock when the teams last played on April 11th. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
