The Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They had just enough and edged McCallie out 55-53. This was payback for Boyd-Buchanan, who suffered a 51-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.
McCallie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Artrell Knight, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Chime, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Boyd-Buchanan's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for McCallie, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boyd-Buchanan will take on the Pounders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McCallie, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Buffaloes at 8:00 p.m. Sunrise Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 173rd in Kansas, while the Blue Tornado are ranked 40th in Tennessee).
